Mercy Health Saint Mary's in Grand Rapids and Mercy Health Muskegon both offer experienced robotic surgical teams. Mercy Health Saint Mary's is the only West Michigan hospital equipped with two state-of-the-art da Vinci® Surgical Systems, a minimally invasive robotic technology that is significantly changing the way surgery is performed. The da Vinci allows our surgeons to perform surgeries with unmatched precision for advanced urogynecology, benign gynecologic issues, gynecologic cancers, urologic cancers and thoracic cancers.
By using this system, the surgeon only needs to create tiny 1 to 2 centimeter openings to insert instruments, as opposed to the 3 to 8 inch incisions typically created for more traditional open surgery. In addition, the surgeon has the ability to see vital organs more clearly, as well as control each stroke of the da Vinci micro-instruments while performing complex procedures.
The new Mercy Health is an integrated network of health care excellence, offering a unique combination of capabilities to deliver a health care experience that is more complete and personally satisfying. Our commitment to offer the latest technology and most highly skilled physicians in a patient-centered environment has made us a progressive leader in cancer care, integrative health care, gynecologic and urologic care, and in robotics-enabled minimally invasive surgery.
